TV Bride, a contemporary romantic comedy novel

Dear Reader,

If you’re like me, reality TV is one of your guilty pleasures. When I watch, I often think of other scenarios for the people who invite us into their lives. For example,
what would happen if the Bachelor met the Godfather? TV Bride, the first book in my TV Love series, is an answer to that question.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Samantha Parker, a photographer with trust issues, and Nick Ryan, a cynical writer, meet when they compete to rent the same cottage. Though Nick wins the cottage, it comes complete with a curse from Samantha.

The next time they meet, he’s the reluctant bachelor on a nationally televised wedding reality show. She’s an even more reluctant potential bride. Who could have predicted that these two would fall in love? Too bad Nick is forced to propose to Melinda, another “bride” -- or his brother will have to duke it out with some very tough guys. The gang behind Melinda has laid a very careful secret trap, leaving Nick with an impossible choice—a future with the woman he loves or a future for his brother.

Can Samantha’s love for Nick survive after he dumps her on national TV? Stay tuned to find out…

What the Reviewers are saying

4 ANGELS Ms. Ballou demonstrates an innate talent for bringing emotion to the forefront with realism and a dose of laughter. You don’t have to be a fan of reality shows to enjoy the romance TV Bride brings to readers.
-- Fallen Angel Reviews

4.5 STARS TV Bride is an excellent swipe at the television reality shows we all love to hate and swear we never watch. But it’s also a story about helping friends, following your heart and being prepared to bend your own self imposed rules to find happiness. I love a book that makes you laugh, and for a couple of hours, allows you dissolve into a romance that is realistic and sweet.
-- Once Upon a Romance

. . . about friendship and family and taking charge of one's life. . . The obstacles Ms. Ballou presents to the characters seem insurmountable and the reader wonders how she's going to be able to bring Nick and Samantha together in the end. . . The supporting cast is fun to watch and the friendships that Samantha makes along the way buoy this story along. I enjoyed watching the characters grow and would recommend this -- a great book to take along to the beach.
-- The Road to Romance

5 ROSES If you like a good laugh with your contemporary romance, don’t pass up this one. . . the plot the most imaginative I’ve seen in awhile. I was cheering along with everyone else for him to choose the bachelorette least interested in winning – at the beginning. Entertaining and heart warming, TV Bride is a tale told well. Just what the reviewer ordered.
-- My Book Cravings

4.5 HEARTS Bravo for Ms. Ballou’s TV Bride. ...a cast of characters who were so much fun to read about. ...better then any reality television show could hope to nail in real life. ...a story that kept this reviewer enthralled into the wee hours of the night. ... a mixture of humor, suspense and romance!

TV Bride TV Love Book 1 edition by Meg Bellamy Contemporary Romance eBooks

I am usually not a reader of romantic fiction (I read more mysteries) nor am I a fan of the Bachelor tV series so I might not be the best reviewer. However, a friend recommended this to me to read while traveling. The ending was not exactly a surprise but I wasn't sure how the author was going to pull it off, so there was some suspense. The characters and dialogue were well written and the plot moved quickly. The book earns 4 stars because I could recommend it to anybody without fear of their being offended and I also could read it with my 14 year old granddaughter.

I thought this story held promise. It was an interesting idea for a story and I thought the author captured the essence of a TV reality show and the goings on behind the scenes.

However, the ending seemed a bit rushed and not completely realistic. Characters who had been acting a certain way throughout the whole book suddenly have a change of heart or suddenly start acting in a whole new way with no explanation as to why they changed. And the threat that was used to set up the story in the book in the beginning is never really resolved and is glossed over at the end.

It's definitely a light, quick read and has some good qualities and a unique story idea, but the ending left me feeling unsatisfied.
I enjoyed the interaction between the H & h, very similiar style to Stephanie Bond & Christie Craig. Liked the h friends comments & in-put too, just wish the main characters had a bit of "heat"... left the story too much like friends than potential lovers.
I liked this book, it kept my attention from the beginning and turned out to be a good read. It was a fun, clean story that was not too long. I’m not a reality TV fan so I was not sure if I should bother with the book but it was surprising good and not what I expected. I will suggest to some of my reading buddies.
Really enjoyed this fun story. Having worked with TV producers, I found Meg Bellamy's take on the behind-the-scenes drama humorous. The novel, in general, handled humor quite well, which can always be difficult. Cute book that I could see as a movie...or maybe on TV. I have Meg on my list of authors to buy again.
TV Bride was a great departure from the genres I usually read. The characters seemed realistic and the plot easy to follow. The ending felt a little rushed, but the book still kept me hooked. Kudos to the author.
Nothing spectacular, just a fun read. I loved how Samantha tried to get thrown off the show and exact some revenge on Nick. I thought the whole premise was a bit over the top - I can't see that any producer would permit a "bachelor prince" and a "bachelorette" who knew each other (i.e. Derek and Melinda) to be on the same show, but without it the rest of the plot would not be possible. It was certainly the cleanest romance I have ever read outside of the inspirational romance genre. Even their daydreams were chaste.
Even though I am proud to say I've never once watched The Bachelor or any other dating-style reality show, this book was a nice read. It was easy and light which made it a pleasure to read. Nick and Sam were great and I really appreciated the author giving life to many of the other contestants instead of simply using them as space fillers. Melinda was appropriately evil and unlikable. I did totally dislike his brother Derek, I mean really who is okay with letting his brother marry into some demented family?!?!
There were things I wish was different about the story; like the overly repetitive inkling that "something must be going on" was overkill, but it was fun and easy...and free.
